The Slovak payments market is modern, varied and, most importantly, meets the expectations of its merchants and consumers, with 88% of merchants and 92% of consumers declaring satisfaction with the payments solutions available to them.
Although cash remains important, cards are considered to be the most preferred option by merchants and consumers. New methods of payment are encountering differing levels of uptake in the country (for instance the slow adoption of VIAMO, now BLIK).
In line with their European peers, merchants and consumers in Slovakia consider safety and security to be the top priority when choosing which payment method to accept or use qualities that cards are perceived to be the best at providing.
